The tools required a complete redesign to address usability and performance issues. I created task flows, use cases, and wireframes. I was also very involved the design of the user interface of each tool.
As the flagship tool of the Honda Automobiles site, the Build Your Honda tool was redesigned to showcase the vehicles, allowing the customer to configure their Honda and at the enjoying themselves while doing it. The tool also needed to be fast while balancing rich content and information.
The calculators were integrated into the configurator and quote request tools to enable customers to view the estimated monthly payment as they make changes to their configured vehicle. They can also factor in vehicle trade-in and adjust terms to see how much they would pay if they lease or finance.
As a result of the redesign, the tools have exceeded business expectations. In addition, J.D. Power and Associates ranks Honda as the top scoring configuration tool among automotive manufacturers.
